TECHNICAL INFORMATION SHEET 4043 ALUMINUM WELDING
0183 324043 ALUMINUM WELDING WIRE and ROD DESCRIPTION: 4043 is an aluminum/silicon filler metal designed for welding heat treatable base metals and is a common choice for welding 6061. 4043 offers good fluidity and less crack sensitivity than 5356 when welding 6000 series base metals. It is often used to for repair welding aluminum/silicon cast alloys such as grades 353/A356. NOMINAL : 208KB

3/6/2021 0183 32Filler ER4043 TIG/MIG 4043 filler alloy, a 5 Silicon alloy, is often used to weld 6061 base materials, it is not commonly used when shear strength of the component is a predominant consideration. The 4043 filler alloy is a silicon based filler alloy that is often used to take advantage of the elements capability of promoting fluidity in aluminum. 5 Tips for Understanding Aluminum TIG Filler Metals, Setup ...
31/8/2021 0183 32A 4943 rod can be used interchangeably with either a 4043 or 4047 filler metal. A 4943 rod still has similar silicon content that helps with reduced shrinkage stress and less distortion, but it also provides strength that is more comparable to a 5356 alloy. Of these commonly used aluminum rods, 5356 provides the most strength and ductility, but there are many other factors that come into play ...

4043 vs 4047 American Welding Society
25/5/2003 0183 32Both of these rods are for welding aluminum, 4043 being the most commomly used. I really do not know what the difference is, but having welded alot of aluminum, I have never used 4047. Really, the best rod to use is 5356 as the mechanical properties of this rod are supposedly better. For what it is worth.....Aluminum is one of the few alloys where the weld is NOT as strong as the base metal ...
